1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Levain (“the Service”), operated by Farm Red Studios (“we,” “us,” or “our”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Levain is a precision fermentation ledger for beer, wine, mead, and cider. The Service includes:
- Batch tracking and hydrometer logging
- Recipe management and workflow templates
- Tasting notes and activity logs
- Inventory and container management
- Free brewing calculators (Gravity & ABV, SRM Color, Refractometer, Mash pH, Nutrient/SNA, BeerXML Parser)
- QR code generation for vessels and containers
- Team collaboration features
Free tools are available without an account. Full features require a paid subscription.
3. Accounts
- You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
- You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms.
4. Your Content
- You retain ownership of all data you enter (batches, recipes, tasting notes, etc.).
- You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content within the Service.
- We do not claim ownership of your brewing data.
5. Free Tools
The free brewing calculators are provided “as is” for informational purposes only. Results are estimates and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for brewing decisions. Always verify measurements with calibrated equipment.
6. Subscription and Billing
- Paid plans are billed through Stripe on a monthly or annual basis.
- Prices are listed at levain.io and may change with 30 days’ notice.
- You may cancel your subscription at any time. Access continues through the end of the billing period.
- We offer a 30-day free trial for new subscribers. No credit card required to start.
- Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis; contact support@levain.io.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users’ data
- Interfere with the proper functioning of the Service
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
- Use the Service to distribute malware or spam
8. Intellectual Property
The Levain name, logo, and visual design are trademarks of Farm Red Studios. You may not use them without written permission. Your brewing data remains yours.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting support@levain.io. Upon deletion, your data will be removed within 30 days.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no warranties, express or implied, including:
- That the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
- That results from free calculators will be accurate
- That the Service will meet your specific requirements
Brewing involves inherent risks. Levain provides tracking and calculation tools but does not guarantee the safety or quality of any fermentation.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Farm Red Studios shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the state in which Farm Red Studios is incorporated.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on our website. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
